1. 新发病毒病原学研究,包括病毒的分离、鉴定、早期诊断技术的建立和基因组研究/ Etiology of emerging viruses, including the isolation and characterization, diagnostic methods development and genomic studies.

2. 动物源传染性病毒分子流行病学和跨物种感染的分子机理(如SARS样冠状病毒、尼巴病毒等)/ Epidemiology and molecular mechanism of interspecies infection of zoonotic viruses, including SARS-like coronavirus and Nipah viruses.
